much ado about nothing

i haven’t done jack… i’ve put together about 6 rows of the other quilt. i’m trying to get in the mood to turn my craft area into a whelping(labor for dogs) station. i just don’t feel like it. i’d rather do it in the kitchen… but then again i really don’t want my dog birthing babies in my kitchen. so the only other option would be my craft area. soooooooooooooo… i have a week to get it ready which is not an exact time it could happen at any moment. but i know what to look for so i think i have at least a few days. i was gonna try and get this quilt done before they got here so i wouldn’t have to worry about bothering them … but i don’t think that will happen. so whatever man.

we are expecting 5 puppies. i think $700 for one is a good price. they usually go for $600 - over a $1000. so i think 7 is a good number. do ya’ll think that is reasonable??? my mom thinks i’m gonna keep them all. and i would if i had a bigger house and more than anything a fenced in yard. maybe thats what i will do with the money… buy a damn fence!

i got my last stitch markers last thursday. they are cute… kind of long with small rings… but i can work with them! i’m just glad i got some more after the first girl flaked on me so i got these from my angel…

and since i like making stitch markers so much i volunteered to be an angel also! here are the ones i made. i really like my little ball of yarn that i made out of polymer clay… isn’t it CUTE!!! i wanna make more!

one almost down

one to go. i finished putting the 1st quilt together last night. all i have left is the border then i gotta figure out how i’m gonna quilt them… i was thinking just tie them. cause i kind of wanna have then done by tuesday. if i let my mom quilt them then that means i have to sit over there and wait for her to do them. which won’t be so bad… or i could try and do it myself on the sewing machine… but i don’t have a clue how to do that. but i have a minute to think of that cause i wanna get this one done first.

my yorkie is pregnant with puppies (well damn i would hope they are puppies… why did i say with puppies like it could be kittens of something) *eye roll* anyway…having puppies ain’t cheap so i have put a lot of stuff on hold… but not to much. at least till i get all my supplies for the whelping.

Puppy Bump

now DD#1 has me doing a doll for her little friend for her birthday… luckily i already had a doll kit on its way. but i did have to buy some supplies (for Caucasian babies cause i have none) i wouldn’t be doing this if DD#1 hadn’t been spending time with this little girl and her mom wasn’t so nice. she bought DD#1 dinner (i offered to pay for it and she said no… who am i to argue?? ) when she took them to see Han.nah Mon.tana at the movies (that i didn’t have to pay for) and they went flower arranging (girl scouts) last weekend (didn’t pay for that either). so i figure i’d do something for her. ain’t i nice??!!

no knitting weekend

so i didn’t knit at all this weekend. not that i didn’t feel like it i was busy doing this….

it is one of the baby quilts for DD#1’s teacher. as you can see it is once again a trip around the world. my favorite pattern next to the log cabin. i love doing the coloring for these quilts. i’m really liking how this one is turning out.

i plan on knitting while watching Raisin in the Sun in 10 minutes though!!!

they are fire starters! i made them from candle wax, saw dust, and dryer lint. very easy to make and work fantastic! i also but some scent in them but i don’t think i put enough in them or the wood just over powered it. ok got go watch the movie.

i forgot to post the other pictures of the fire starters!  thanks patrice for asking.  you light it and place it under the wood… and it will do the rest!!!

slowly growing

and when i say slow i mean SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. S.L.O.W. funny thing is i’ve been working on it for about a week and haven’t gotten very fay but have done a lot…. and i’m not tired of it and ready to put it down yet. maybe because this is one of those projects that you have to refer to the pattern often… well at least us slow people do. ;P so anyway here are some pictures. i only work on it for and hour or two a day. well not straight through cause i got kids and sponibilities!!! yeah sure i do. i wish that i could just knit on it all day… trust me i have tried but the kids just won’t let it happen. these past 2 days have been good knitting time cause we had 2 snow days. So DS#1 been here and he watches the babies a little but not really. they just don’t get into as much stuff than they do if i’m sitting in my room knitting and the older kids are in school. i don’t know what i’m gonna do when DD#2 goes to school… guess i won’t ever be knitting during school hours unless i find i new knitting spot…

so at least i bought the fabric.  i still wanna do it and excited… i cleaned my work area  even though i didn’t want to.  ijust need about 5 different fabrics cause i like to cut all fabrics together.  rather than some at different times.

DD#1 has asked me to make a doll for her friend for her birthday next month.  since i have let her hang out with the little girl and her moms been paying for things like food and such i figure i could make her one… but only if she likes dolls.  cause  i’m not putting all my time and money into something that will be abused.  i think i will go the Berenger route again since it will be a play doll.  i don’t know which one though.

ok i have to find another LQS so i can go get the reat of this fabric.

i joined the Ebony Elite KCAL. and i decided on the Red Cable Cardigan from Twelve Months of Knitting. that i just got last week and saw this pattern for the first time and thought it would be perfect for my mom… so i’m using the same yarn that i got months ago. hope i have enough. so this is what i got so far.

WHY I CAN’T SEW…

 

you see this here is my cutting/craft table. you see that on the floor… thats my brand new cutting mat. i can probably name one thing on this table that is mine. the tool box. it has all my reborn stuff in it. all that other mess is my husband. he does this all the time.

this is his mail… that he decided need to decorate my area and then half knock my stuff off.

so this is why i can’t sew. my husband has taken over my craft space and junked it up to the point where i don’t feel like cleaning it up or fining a new home for his shit. oops i wasn’t supposed to say that but thats just how pissed i am./ i mean its fine that you can’t find a place for it but you’re not supposed to dump your shit in my my space. so i will most likely have to find a place for it. i just don’t want to hear about it later when he can’t find something. but then again i really don’t care. ok back to it!!

finished the bag… but one of my bad ass kids unraveled the top some how. i have a felling i know which one did it.

Grocery Bag bag

WIP is on the needles. its what i like to call my Grocery Bag bag… the pattern is called Mary’s Summer Bag from Knit Picks. its a fast knit and it is serving a purpose in my kitchen. i’m sick of looking at the bags flying all over the place!

is this considered lace work?? if so its my first!!

i joined the Ebony Elite KCAL…. my pattern choices are between the Cable Hooded Jacket by Debbie Bliss. i’m thinking about destashing on this but not sure if i have enough yarn to do it. so i don’t know. and if i don’t then i have to get yarn by friday which is the first day . then i was thinking about doing the Red Cabled Cardigan Hoodie. for my DD #1. i have the yarn for that one already. actually i’m using the yarn from the sweater i was gonna knit for my mom… i just can’t figure out what i wanna knit for her. AND then i wanna do, because we are supposed to do something to challenge ourselves, The Guitar Messenger Bag. BUT instead of a guitar i wanna put a picture of a woman with an afro! i’ debating this one cause i think it will take a lot longer than a month… cause i still haven’t figured out how to do the picture. i got a picture but i don’t know yet. i’m so confused!!! i figure it out eventually. i guess i could ask someone. any ideas????

i totally forgot

guess what i did this sunday during the super bowl!!! i HAND sewed the jacket together!!! yeah me hand sewing.. go figure. and i did an awesome job i must say so myself. no holes or anything!

The Low Low~ i like doing this jacket but i had a hard time with turning the right side. why they just don’t write the pattern all the way through is beyond me. some of us meaning me are not that smart. it took me at least 7 or 8 times to do it. but everything else was fairly easy. the yarn is soy wool and a little itchy… and its a little tight so i guess i’m fatter than i thought! i haven’t put the zipper in and seeing as to how tight it fits i doubt i will until i lose some weight!!

i went to Jo Jo’s this weekend and i must say Jo JO is trippin! i went there to pick up some fabric to make a quilt. so i’m browsing and i see something i like and !#%@&! that stuff cost $9/yd! i was like ok… not that one. find another one.. same thing… i look at more prices and and they were all ranging from $5 to $9 per yard! WTF!!! when did this happen!? what happened to $2.99??? its the same pitiful quality of fabric just cost more. at these prices i won’t be back to buy fabric. i will from now on get my fabric for quilts at a LQS (local quilt shop.) they have better fabrics, better quality fabric, and a better variety! but i bought some anyway… the cheaper of them. so i will have a quilt block up soon for Quilting Month! yay!

so it was supposed to be in ss but i forgot that when knitting in a round that you have to purl in order to get the garter stitch.  other than that i made it up as i went a long.  i changed the color for the cuff.

i talked to DD#1 teacher yesterday and she said her nursery is baby pink… so i figured i’ll do opposites…i’ll be doing my favorite pattern Trip Around the World in pinks and white or beige… 1 will be from light to dark and the other dark to light.   its kind of boring but i think i can rock it.

1st day of Quilting Month. so i am off to look for 9-Patch variations… i hate the 9-Patch…  so thats why i am looking for variations.
